Substrate-Independent, Regenerable Anti-Biofouling Coating for Polymeric Membranes

Biofouling is a common but significant issue in the membrane process as it reduces permeate flux, increases energy costs, and shortens life span of membranes. As an effective antibacterial agent, small amount silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) immobilized on surfaces will alleviate from biofouling. However, loading AgNPs surface remains challenge due to low efficiency or lack bonding stability between surface. In this study, substrate-independent method reported immobilize polymeric by firstly modifying with functional groups then forming situ. The obtained membranes had good anti-biofouling properties demonstrated disk diffusion tests. were stably easily regenerated. This applicable various micro-, ultra-, nano-filtration reverse osmosis (RO)
